Watco’s general purpose Firm-Step® Standard GRP Sheets bring safety underfoot for medium foot traffic areas including walkways, ramps and mezzanine floors.

Easy to maintain, Watco Firm-Step® Standard GRP Sheets can be cleaned with a stiff brush to remove everyday dirt. A mild detergent is recommended for more stubborn contamination. Fixings and adhesive should be checked regularly, based on the volume of foot traffic, but monthly inspections are advised.

Application

Preparation

Any damage or undulations to the substrate should be remedied to ensure the flat sheet will be on a reasonably flat and even surface. If using an adhesive, the substrate must be clean and dry and free from oils, grease, dust and any loose particles. The underside of the sheet must also be clean and dry. Where the substrate is contaminated (e.g. by oil), mechanical fixing is essential. Prior to applying any adhesive, it is advisable to carry out a dry-fit first to ensure a suitable fit.

Watco recommends a double fixing method for installing GRP anti slip sheets, consisting of a high strength adhesive or double sided tape such as Watco Mastic Adhesive or UltraBond Tape, both supplied by us, and mechanical fixings.

Application

We recommend screw fixing to most substrates, combined with Watco Adhesive Mastic to prevent rocking on uneven surfaces. Screws, fixing plugs and a free pre-drilling service are available if required. Alternatively, UltraBond Tape and Primer can be used to bond the sheets to dry indoor floors.
